Per Section 1, subsection (21)(b), the district advanced placement or accelerated learning policy, Clay County Public Schools provide accelerated learning options by grade level for grades 4-12 in the areas of language arts, mathematics, social studies and science through multiple virtual learning programs students can access during the school day and beyond. In addition, students are provided with advanced educational opportunities through partnerships with Partners for Rural Impact funded programs during the school day on campus and through field trip experiences. Along with these opportunities, students may join content-specific clubs and academic teams, which provide further advancement opportunities for any student wishing to participate. On top of these accelerated learning options, students in grades 7-12 also have the option to enhance their educational experiences by taking advanced classes, dual credit classes, and electives in the subject areas of choice. Students identified as gifted and talented in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science are provided with accelerated learning opportunities in grades 4-6 through the opportunities stated above as well as enrichment services during the school day and resource services in a pull-out classroom. Students identified as gifted and talented in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science are provided with accelerated learning opportunities in grades 7-12 through the opportunities stated above as well as advanced coursework through differentiated study experiences, special counseling services, enrichment services that are not extracurricular during the school day, and self-contained classrooms.
